Sheffield’s defense shuts down Fairley

As his players filed out of the locker room one by one following a somewhat lengthy postgame talk Friday night, Fairley coach Rahnmann Slocum remained behind momentarily, trying hard to process the array of misfortunes his players endured against Sheffield.

“Everything you could think of that went wrong, went wrong,” Slocum said. “We’ve just got to find out who the true leaders are. We’ve just got to come together as a family and bond together and work out our problems.”

Sheffield 9, Fairley 6: Anthony Williams’ 35-yard field goal in the third quarter was the difference as the Knights (3-0, 1-0 in 16-AA) edged the Bulldogs (1-2, 0-1).
