Fairley Makes School History – Advances to State Quarterfinals with 34-28 Win Over Munford
Posted in History on November 11th, 2006 by AndyFairley beat Munford 34-28 last night to advance to the state quarterfinals. This is the first time in school history the Bulldogs have made it to the third round of the playoffs.
After falling behind 28-14 in the second quarter, the Bulldogs shut out Munford and scored the game’s final 20 points. DeAngelo Anderson had a kickoff return for a touchdown in the first half as well as a punt return for a TD in the second half which helped swing the momentum to Fairley. Jemarcus Robinson and Bobby Jones each ran for first half scores. Rod Garrett scored the final touchdown of the game with a 36-yard run.
The defense shut down Munford in the second half, limiting their senior fullback Jerry Jackson to only 20 yards. The Fairley defense also produced four second-half turnovers: two fumble recoveries and interceptions by Arxaverion West and Colby Broadnax.
Fairly will play at Henry County next week for a spot in the state semi-finals.
