South Fairley Whips Sheffield; Moves to 5-1 On The Season
Fairley moves to 5 -1 on the season with a second half thrashing of the Knights from Sheffield. After falling behind 8-0, Fairley scored on a 13 yard run by Bowlegs in the second quarter with Jemarcus Robinson taking the ball in for the two point conversion. The game was tied 8-8 going into halftime.
Once the whistle blew to start the third quarter Fairley was off and running with a 22 yard run for a touchdown by fullback Nico Jones followed by a pass from Jemarcus to Bobby Jones for the two point conversion. South Fairley’s next possession saw Jemarcus throw a 68 yard touchdown pass to Adrian Taylor. Fairley was not through scoring when Bowlegs ripped off a 50 yard touchdown run to end the third quarter. The fourth quarter started with Fairley up 28-8 when Colby Broadnax intercepted a pass as Sheffield was driving. Colby later intercepted another pass, his fourth of the season, and ran it in from 20 yards out. Bobby Jones caught another pass from Jemarcus for the two point conversion. When time ran out South Fairley had won 36-8, moved to 5-1 and was tied with Melrose for #1 in the region.
Fairley and Melrose will determine who will win the region when they play next week at J.P. Freeman Stadium.
